The giant lizard, known also as the desert
crocodile, will snap its jaws menacingly, but if you approach it it will
turn and run. During the hottest summer months the giant lizara burrows
its way into turtle nests and waits for cooler weather.
Some of these lizards grow to be a meter
and a half long. When one of these gets angry, it puffs itself up so as
to appear menacing. They say that even a sabre is ineffectual against one
of these. The giant lizard feeds on rodents, but its favorite food is bird
eggs.
