The jik-jiki is an amazing little mite of a bird. Instead of building its nest in trees or on the ground, it builds it in small
depressions, or in an abandoned well br other 9pening in the ground. They say that it's afraid that the sky is about to fall down. Even when tucked away safely in its nest, the jik-jiki sleeps with its tiny legs upraised. Evidently it wants to be ready to catch the sky if one day it actually does come crashing down.
